  • Perform field and plant inspections for HMA and/or PCC production and placement.
  • Conduct sampling and testing of construction materials in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Document and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate findings and issues to project engineers and contractors.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
  • Assist in resolving material related construction issues.
  • Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Support project documentation and closeout processes.
  • Associates degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, Materials Science, or a related field, OR High School Diploma or GED with 4 years of relevant experience in construction materials testing or inspection.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in construction materials testing, inspection, or quality assurance.
  • Experience with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) and/or Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) plant inspection is required (minimum 1 year).
  • Valid California Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with data entry and reporting software (e.g., SiteManager, LIMS).
  • Familiarity with nuclear density gauges, slump cones, air meters, and other field testing equipment.
  • Understanding of construction materials standards (ASTM, AASHTO, Caltrans).
  • Knowledge of quality control/quality assurance procedures in construction materials testing.
  • Experience working on transportation infrastructure projects (e.g., highways, bridges, airports).
  • Familiarity with Caltrans or other DOT specifications and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
