About The Position

Ensure that all schedule requests are completed on-time, with properly trained technicians. Perform field visits as required and attend meetings as needed. Mentor technicians and either perform or assign training as needed. Work will be a combination of field and office work. Present a positive customer service attitude and understanding of ECS Core Values. Employee who has a good understanding of the occupation. Begin to learn about equipment management, quality control, as well as staffing and what overall success of the department looks like. Assist with management of field staff. Actively mentor and train field staff. Promote safety and safety culture and ensure proper PPE is used. Assist with company required safety training Assist with scheduling operations Calibration of field equipment and assist with maintenance of calibration schedule and records Assist with recruiting to maintain appropriate staff levels with collaboration and approval by your supervisor Daily communication with technicians, project managers, and general contractors Assist with inventory maintenance and organization of required supplies and equipment Assist with recruiting to maintain appropriate staff levels with collaboration and approval by your supervisor Perform field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt and structural steel placement as needed Proficiency with electronic devices including data entry and editing of data and documents required for daily field report submission Provide assistance to Project Managers, the Department Manager, and assist with administrative duties as needed Attend project meetings with field staff as needed May participate in business development, marketing, and client development May manage construction materials testing projects

Requirements

  • Strong oral & written communication skills
  • Dependable, self-motivated, responsible and detail-oriented
  • Good understanding of construction materials testing principles, applications, and testing standards
  • Good understanding of construction materials testing and evaluation techniques
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, peers and supervisors as well as independently
  • Proficiency with electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops
  • Proficient with computers and MS Office
  • Ability to evaluate test results in terms of specification compliance
  • Must be able to frequently lift a minimum of 85 pounds
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction materials testing.
  • Valid driver’s license (required for site visits or company vehicle use).
  • Ability to lift up to 85 lbs multiple times per day.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification or ability to obtain.
  • Must hold 3 or more advanced certifications per company policy (NICET, ACI, ICC, WACEL, DOT, etc.)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ECS systems and procedures is a plus
  • Experience mentoring or training junior staff.
  • Familiarity with electronic reporting systems (tablet, phone, laptop).
  • Proficiency in reading site maps and interpreting technical specifications.
  • Prior experience representing firm on full-time project assignments.
