About The Position

The CMMS Technician works with the Plant Maintenance Coordinator to support daily maintenance operations by keeping the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) accurate, up to date, and useful for planning and reliability work. This role is responsible for entering, processing, and closing maintenance work orders, tracking delays, and ensuring labor, parts, and failure codes are entered correctly. The CMMS Technician helps prepare daily and weekly maintenance schedules, supports planning meetings, and assists with balancing work based on available craft labor. This position also prepares maintenance reports, tracks key performance indicators, and provides basic CMMS support and training to maintenance personnel.

Requirements

  • Must have successfully performed a craft position within the Machine Shop, Electrical or Maintenance units at AMERICAN or similar training and work experience at another company OR must exhibit a minimum of four (4) years technical operating experience working directly with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Must exhibit a thorough knowledge of AMERICAN manufacturing processes and products, or similar processes and products.
  • Must exhibit ability to learn technical information involved in all aspects of maintenance work.
  • Must exhibit the ability to read and interpret difficult blueprints.
  • Must exhibit a working knowledge in the use of a computer using word processing, spreadsheet and database software such as Word, Excel, Access, etc.
  • Must exhibit basic computer skills and basic typing skills in order to accurately enter data into the system.
  • Must exhibit good organizational skills.
  • Must exhibit attention to detail.
  • Must exhibit the ability to cooperate well with others.
  • Must exhibit the ability to use measuring instruments.
  • Must exhibit the ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Must exhibit a record of punctuality and good attendance.
  • Must meet the physical requirements for safe operation of mobile equipment as administered by the Safety Department.
  • Must exhibit the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the job duties.
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Due to the hazardous nature of the job environment (mobile equipment, overhead cranes, etc.) acceptable levels of vision and hearing are required in order to identify and respond to visual and audible warnings in a safe manner.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software application or other maintenance work order management system.
  • Prior mechanical, machinist or electrical maintenance experience.
  • Prior experience with PM work orders and/or preventive maintenance programs.
