About The Position

The CMM Programmer plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by developing and optimizing programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure precise measurement and quality control of manufactured components. This position requires a deep understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles to accurately interpret engineering drawings and translate them into effective CMM inspection routines. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with quality engineers, machinists, and production teams to identify measurement requirements and implement solutions that enhance product accuracy and compliance with industry standards. By leveraging advanced programming techniques and metrology expertise, the CMM Programmer contributes directly to reducing scrap rates, improving process efficiency, and maintaining high-quality standards. Ultimately, this role ensures that manufactured parts meet stringent specifications, supporting the company’s commitment to delivering superior products to customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or higher in Manufacturing Technology, Metrology, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) in a manufacturing environment. Zeiss experience highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles and engineering drawings.Zeiss
  • Familiarity with CMM programming software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent. Calypso experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints accurately.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in metrology or CMM programming from a recognized institution.
  • Experience with advanced CMM technologies including scanning and non-contact measurement systems.
  • Background in quality management systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of process improvement in manufacturing settings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain CMM programs using industry-standard software to measure complex parts accurately.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to create detailed inspection routines that comply with GD&T standards.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and production teams to troubleshoot measurement issues and optimize inspection processes.
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance checks on CMM equipment to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
  • Analyze measurement data and generate comprehensive reports to support quality control and continuous improvement initiatives.
