About The Position

This position primarily creates and writes CMM programs using PC-DMIS software to support inspections on machined parts and assemblies. In addition, this position conducts a variety of dimensional, visual, electronic, and nondestructive tests on parts and assemblies to ensure unit meets and or functions according to specifications using a variety of inspection machines and equipment.

Requirements

  • Technical college education in QA, inspection or machine shop, or equivalent inspection experience.
  • Experience QA experience and CMM programming experience using PC-DMIS required
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques of quality assurance.
  • Understands inspection and test procedures and equipment to be used to perform the inspections and tests
  • Able to perform close tolerance work and to read and comprehend prints/drawings.
  • Asks questions, takes initiative and makes recommendations
  • Able to use Microsoft Office products such as such as Outlook, Word etc.
  • Highly motivated, cooperative, responsible, flexible and open to feedback.
  • Self-starter and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work well with people.
  • Willingness to work overtime and some weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automatic vision inspection systems and plastic parts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create, write and edit dimensional inspection programs for the CMM.
  • Review complex blueprints of parts and assemblies in preparation of writing inspection programs on PC-DMIS.
  • Perform first piece, in-process and final inspections on machined and/or assembled components using statistically sound inspection methodologies.
  • Use a variety of inspection equipment including electronic devices, optical comparators and coordinating measuring machines (CMM) to inspect parts and assemblies.
  • Check for finish, dimensions or other observable characteristics of material.
  • Compare results with specifications and records test data when appropriate.
  • Confer with engineers, production personnel, vendors and others regarding inspection and test results and play a role in developing preventive action.
  • Creates and sets up Gage R&R’s and new inspection techniques.
  • Proactively seeks out better or efficient ways to inspect.
