About The Position

The CMM Programmer is responsible for writing CMM programs for various parts and gauging. In addition CMM the programmer oversees the quality lab. Other related tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Must be able to complete the Hi-Lex given forklift test.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, and multitasking skills.
  • Familiar with factory environment, moving equipment, parts movement.
  • Familiar with safety in a factory environment.
  • GD&T Knowledge: A deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is crucial for interpreting part specifications and ensuring accurate measurements.
  • Blueprint Reading: The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models is essential for understanding part features and tolerances.
  • CMM Software & Hardware: Proficiency in operating and programming specific CMM software packages (e.g., PC-DMIS) and understanding various CMM machine types or other laboratory equipment.
  • Metrology & Measurement: Knowledge of fundamental metrology principles, measurement techniques, and different measurement sensors and probes.
  • Data Analysis: Familiarity with data analysis tools and statistical methods to interpret inspection data, identify trends, and generate reports.
  • CAD Software: Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software is valuable for model-based programming.
  • Machine Calibration: Ability to perform basic calibration and maintenance on CMM machines to ensure accuracy.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is paramount for accurate programming and to prevent significant quality issues.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills are needed to troubleshoot measurement issues and optimize inspection processes.
  • Analytical Skills: The capacity for strong analytical thinking helps in analyzing data and identifying potential manufacturing problems.
  • Communication: The ability to clearly communicate technical information and inspection findings to other team members, including non-specialists.
  • Computer Skills: Comprehensive computer skills are necessary for operating CMM software, managing data, and potentially using macro programming.
  • Organizational Skills: Good organizational skills help in managing programs, data, and maintenance schedules efficiently.
  • Recommend procedures and budget for quality engineering areas.
  • Ensure quality customer files are current to IATF16949 requirements.
  • Performs internal audits as necessary.
  • Work Saturdays if required
  • Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects up to 25 pounds, occasionally over 60 pounds.
  • Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects – up to 50 pounds.
  • Minimum 1 year of forklift experience in a factory environment.
  • Clothing and shoes must comply with current MIOSHA regulations and current dress code policy.
  • Steel toed shoes required.

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) using PC DMIS software.
  • Interpret internal and customer blue prints by applying GD&T principles.
  • Manage weekly CMM schedule
  • Ability to align and secure holding fixtures and gauges.
  • Ability to create CMM programs from supplied CAD files
  • Communicate CMM results and interpret data with internal engineering and quality staff on a daily basis.
  • Calibrate and troubleshoot CMM equipment (Brown & Sharpe & Mitutoyo).
  • Communicates with staff regarding suspect measurement system methods and analysis.
  • Prepares measurement system analysis reports as required.
  • Performs general administrative duties as required.
  • Ability to multi task in automotive environment
  • Proficient in Google, Microsoft applications
