Job Summary The CMM Operator/Quality Inspector is responsible for the experienced operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) using PC-DMIS software with a background in manual inspection of complex tight tolerance Aerospace manufactured parts. This position also involves the submittal of out of tolerance conditions to Customer and/or in-house Engineering support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED/equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant job experience
  • Proven job experience in the Operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines with PC-DIMIS software.
  • Proven job experience in manual inspection using calibers, mics, MicroView, thread gages, height gages, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Note: Position may require occasional overtime to support the team as needed.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply various technical data such as prints, specifications and utilize specialized inspection and hand tools.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, Solution-oriented while committed to consistency and process.
  • Ability to work under minimal direction while keeping within the limitations of designated authorities, exercising regular use of good judgment.
  • Ability to utilize computer systems to generate spreadsheets and presentations as well as access databases and other quality documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able present information, concepts, and proposals with a wide range of audiences at all levels, technical or non-technical individuals both internal and external to the company.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Requires repetitive movement, walking, and standing.
  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.
  • Able to travel <10% of the time
  • All candidates selected will be subject to background investigation and drug screen
  • This position requires access to onsite locations managing Unclassified Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirements, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications and Customer requirements utilizing the best inspection method (CMM and/or manual inspection methods).
  • Mechanical inspection of products to verify conformance to drawing and specification requirements.
  • Review work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements.
  • Review drawings or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
  • Assist with Manufacturing to determine Inspection frequency to ensure first-time quality.
  • Review data and Customer/Industry workmanship standards to determine requirements for inspection and compliance.
  • Correlate and record inspection data to document in the required format.
  • Identify items with detailed acceptance-rejection status.
  • Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems.
  • Work closely with CNC machinists to complete inspections and support the team to meet customer deadlines.
  • Fill out inspection reports describing results.
  • Compare physical characteristics of materials or products to specifications or standards.
  • Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs.
  • Monitor equipment operation to ensure proper functioning.
  • Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed.
  • Clean production equipment.
  • Treat all coworkers with respect and dignity ensuring a collaborative culture is continually developed and maintained.
  • Note: Other duties as assigned
