About The Position

Program, set up, and operate Zeiss CMMs using Calypso software, FaroArm, and Blue‑Light 3D scanners to capture part and assembly dimensions. Perform routine daily/weekly maintenance on CMMs; keep Calypso up‑to-date. Develop, revise, and optimize offline and online CMM programs and reports to match customer drawings and specifications. Produce CMM set‑up and operational instructions for specific parts or machines. Store all CMM data securely and maintain regular backups. Execute complex inspections of mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and purchased parts, in‑process items, and final assemblies. Use calibrated gauges and appropriate tools to verify feature tolerances. Perform First‑Piece, Lot, and Final inspections against drawing requirements. Document and report inspection findings; record measurement data; generate quality notifications for non‑conformances in SAP; maintain complete inspection records. Review documentation, certifications, and specifications to verify conformance to design requirements. Ensure all activities comply with the Quality Management System (AS9100/ISO 9001). Assist Quality Engineer in developing inspection plans for the machine shop. Participate in corrective‑action processes, verifying implementation and effectiveness. Provide technical assistance to production and manufacturing engineering for inspection‑related activities. Create quality notifications in SAP and maintain accurate ERP records per company policy. Ensure inspection data and program files are correctly stored, backed up, and readily accessible. Support PPAP & First‑Article Inspection (FAI), in‑process, and final inspection activities as required.

Requirements

  • High‑school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of precision mechanical inspection experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience programming and operating Zeiss CMMs or Faro Arms.
  • Proven ability to program and run Coordinate Measuring Machines, applying predefined methods and specifications for visual inspection of in‑process and completed parts.
  • Proficient with calibrated inspection tools to verify dimensions and feature profiles.
  • Skilled at interpreting 2‑D engineering drawings and 3‑D CAD models.
  • Basic knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) principles.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.

Nice To Haves

  • Aerospace‑focused precision inspection background.
  • CMM programming using Calypso (including Zeiss‑specific probe configurations).
  • Strong inspection/quality‑assurance background.
  • Experience in aerospace, spacecraft, or missile production environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with quality‑management systems (AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, adept at prioritizing delegated tasks.
  • Certified Metrology Technician (ASQ, SME, or equivalent) or completion of Zeiss Calypso training – preferred.
  • Skilled at reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications per ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) and proficient with metrology tools and gauges.
