Mission: Under general supervision, perform a wide variety of Layout Inspection functions on critical castings, wax patterns, fixtures, and other items to assure conformance to customer requirements. Utilize generally accepted dimensional inspection methods in accordance with established quality standards. Ensures that documentation, tooling, and parts are correctly matched to paperwork. Principle Accountabilities: 1. Layout Technician Objective: To set up and perform inspection functions on castings or other items to verify conformance to visual and dimensional requirements as defined by work instructions and/or inspection programs. Essential Job Functions Follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain the quality of the work environment. Capable of performing all manner of inspection functions associated with running existing CMM programs. Capable of analyzing CMM inspection data sets and releasing acceptable product to the next operation. Capable of analyzing CMM inspection data sets to discern rework activities on product that does not meet defined requirements. Demonstrate ability to log on main computer system, extract information, log time, enter inventory amount and forward to next operation. As directed by department lead, calibrates and maintains appropriate records for all types of inspection equipment as required in plant. Transports castings into and out of inspection area. Completes all necessary paperwork and records as required. Maintains daily inspection reports, logs, and gage pack data entries as required. Reports any discrepancies or out of tolerance condition to inspection supervisor and prepares corrective action requests as required. Demonstrate cooperation when assistance is needed by the management. Demonstrate a capability to understand blueprint interpretation and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Consistently notifies supervisor immediately when workload is low. Demonstrate safe and efficient handling of all tools, dies, equipment and forklift (if applicable) to prevent damage. Maintains equipment in good, clean working order. Meets all production and quality standards. Follows set OCP’s and QCP’s. Performs all other duties assigned. 2. Calibration Able to perform calibration of hand tools and enter required information into the designated data base. As required, assists with other calibration functions. Work safely when lifting, use transport devices or get help if needed. Record all updated calibration dates in computer and on item tag. Returns all items to proper location. Safety Objective: To take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices. Essential Job Functions: Adheres to plant and department safety rules. Identifies and reports safety problems. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
