The CML Grounds Maintenance II position involves performing various grounds maintenance activities such as grass cutting, edging, trimming, and limited landscaping, supporting the organization's mission to help change lives through the power of work.

Requirements

Must have a current valid Driver's License.
6+ months of experience performing similar work.
Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance and tools.
Driving skills.
Reading and comprehension skills.
Analyze, evaluate situations, and develop alternatives for conflict resolution.
Basic knowledge of grounds maintenance tools & equipment.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge of and skilled in using various landscaping hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

Cut grass to specific requirements using push mowers, riding mowers or tractor mowers with attached shredders.
Remove grass clippings, trash, and debris from work site, and dispose of trash at collection point.
Use grass/weed trimmer in areas (not accessible to riding or push mowers) such as slopes, canals, ditches, rough terrain, ramps, or drop-offs; may also be required to clean ramp areas, both over and under.
Operate backpack blower to clear surfaced areas.
Trim hedges and shrubs and edge sidewalks, curbs, parking lots, and other surfaced areas.
Assist in maintaining landscaped areas such as flower-beds, shrubs, and trees, by applying and spreading mulch, topsoil, and sand; weeding; and preparing the ground for tree planting as needed.
Remove vines from fences and maintains fence lines cleared of new growth.
Clean tools, working areas, and vehicles; perform basic service maintenance by following manufacturer’s directions before and after use of all equipment; conduct thorough inspection to assure safe use of equipment.
Assess, maintain and repair irrigation systems as needed.
Follow all Federal, State, and Agency safety requirements; wear safety equipment; follow the proper use of equipment according to the manufacturer’s directions; exercise extreme caution when changing directions on slopes to ensure maintaining balance while carrying and operating equipment.
Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
