About The Position

We are seeking a Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) Designer to join RBKS Industrial Design team. This role will lead the development and implementation of CMF strategies across Ring, Blink, and Amazon Key hardware product portfolio, driving innovation while ensuring aesthetic excellence, functionality, and reliability. The ideal candidate will combine creative vision with technical expertise to shape RBKS design through thoughtful material selection and finish development.

Requirements

  • Experience with prototyping and implementation
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design or Master's Degree in CMF Design
  • 5+ years of professional CMF design experience.
  • Proven track record in hardware product development
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Keyshot
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
  • Excellent color acuity (must pass Munsell Hue Color Test)
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Ability to work across time zones and travel internationally

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in consumer electronics or smart home products
  • Knowledge of sustainable materials and manufacturing practices
  • Experience working with Asian manufacturers
  • Portfolio demonstrating successful CMF implementation in mass-production

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end CMF development for Ring, Blink, Amazon Key hardware products, from concept to mass production
  • Develop and implement comprehensive CMF strategies aligned with Ring's brand identity and product vision
  • Conduct trend analysis and market research to inform color and material decisions
  • Create and present CMF proposals to stakeholders, including development teams and executives
  • Collaborate with suppliers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturing feasibility
  • Direct prototype development and oversee color/finish matching processes
  • Drive material innovation and sustainability initiatives
  • Maintain and document CMF specifications and guidelines
  • Coordinate with international teams and suppliers, including participation in global meetings
  • Build and maintain an internal library of materials and finishes
  • Lead advanced material research to support next-generation product development

  • The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
