About The Position

As a CMBS Analyst at Janus Henderson, you will work specifically in the CMBS space, focusing on understanding and communicating the drivers of risk associated with various factors such as property type, leverage, debt yield, DSCR, amortization, geography, tenant base, sponsor, business plan, capex plan, refinancing optionality, and other fundamental value drivers. Your responsibilities will include selecting the best risk-adjusted, total return CMBS/CRE securities with an emphasis on capital preservation, understanding drivers of returns including carry, duration, volatility, liquidity, technicals, optionality, and default risk. You will also manipulate off-the-shelf models to drive cash flows and risk analysis, build and maintain relative value models, and collaborate with the internal risk and analytics team to model and update CMBS portfolio risk measures. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Strong modeling skills, proficient in building and maintaining financial models to forecast future cash flows.
  • Quantitative, programming skills, and knowledge of statistics.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and assimilate large amounts of information quickly.

  • Post-graduate degree such as MBA and/or CFA.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and communicate the drivers of risk in CMBS including property type, leverage, debt yield, DSCR, amortization, geography, tenant base, sponsor, business plan, capex plan, refinancing optionality, and other drivers of fundamental value.
  • Select the best risk-adjusted, total return CMBS/CRE securities with a focus on capital preservation.
  • Understand drivers of returns including carry, duration, volatility, liquidity, technicals, optionality, and default risk.
  • Manipulate off-the-shelf models to drive cash flows and risk analysis, including Bloomberg, Intex, and Trepp.
  • Build, update, and maintain relative value models and surveil all models on a monthly basis.
  • Work with internal risk and analytics team to model, develop, and update CMBS portfolio risk measures and visual displays.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
