Hamilton Medical Center (HMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hamilton Healthcare System, Inc. (HHCS). HMC Internal Medicine Residency Program was created as part of a grant program through the state of Georgia to meet the long-term community need for physicians within the Dalton, Georgia and surrounding communities. The Internal Medicine Residency Program is a training clinic for residents within the system. Many residents stay in the same location that they trained for independent practice. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician and/or resident, including preparing patients to be seen by the physician and/or resident. Assists with patient phone calls, prescription refills, referrals, and prior authorizations. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e. pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height) and records information in patients’ charts. May be required to collect blood samples, tissue or other laboratory specimens and prepare them for testing. Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets and physician’s instructions to patients. Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures related to the practice. Follows standard procedures and/or written instructions to perform job duties. Assists with business operations, clerical, medical records management, reception, and patient scheduling as needed. Demonstrates teamwork to ensure achievement of team, individual, and corporate goals. Provides support to team members and performs other duties as required.
