About The Position

AMI Expeditionary Healthcare LLC (AMI) is seeking an experienced and passionate Certified Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and support services at the Naval Health Clinic in Oak Harbor, WA. The CMA will assist clinical staff by preparing exam rooms, assisting with patient flow (check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers), and collecting vital signs, medical histories, and other key patient information. Requirements

  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.

  • Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Ability to collect, organize, record, and communicate behavioral and medical data effectively
  • Ability to respond appropriately in stressful situations with emotional control, tact, and patience
  • Skills in providing health instruction and guidance to patients and families
  • Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
  • Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants or current registration by the American Medical Technologists or other formal program.
  • One year of experience within the last two years as a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Hold current BLS from American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • Must be U.S. citizen
  • Proof of required immunizations and health clearances
  • Ability to meet physical and training requirements
  • Successful completion of federal background check, fingerprinting, and pre-employment clearance
  • Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must work as a team member to improve safety culture and quality.
  • Read and follow instructions.
  • Demonstrate safe work behavior.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently.
  • Utilize appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Deliver targeted, culturally appropriate information to help individuals and groups understand health promotion and disease prevention information, policies, regulations, and local code.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
  • Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
  • Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
  • Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
  • Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms.
  • Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released
  • The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.
