About The Position

The CMA/RMA position at Atrium Health Clemmons Family Medicine involves assisting physicians and Advanced Care Practitioners in providing patient care. The role includes patient intake, documentation, administering vaccines and medications, and performing clerical tasks. The position requires a focus on patient safety and compliance with health regulations while ensuring efficient office operations.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Recognized/certified as a CMA or RMA by a national organization.

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification from a recognized Medical Association.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician and/or Advanced Care Practitioner with patient care and intake during office visits.
  • Document patient information and maintain medical records.
  • Administer vaccines and medications, including injections.
  • Check vital signs, height, and weight of patients.
  • Assist with reviewing medication history and updating medication lists.
  • Participate in pre-visit planning with the provider and care team.
  • Perform Point of Care testing (POCT) as per standing orders or provider orders.
  • Utilize standard precautions and comply with relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Report patient's condition and reactions to the provider after procedures or treatments.
  • Assist with patient inquiries regarding prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referrals.
  • Participate in electronic documentation of care as directed by the provider.
  • Complete CLIA approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing.
  • Perform Quality Control and maintenance for Point of Care in-office lab procedures.
  • Conduct venipuncture and assist with specimen collection for laboratory testing.
  • Monitor inventory and stock medications and emergency equipment specific to the practice setting.
  • Track and log all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests, presenting results to the provider.
