About The Position

The Cluster Research Administrator (CRA) at Georgetown University provides comprehensive support for sponsored research, aiming to alleviate the administrative workload of Principal Investigators (PIs) to enhance research productivity. The CRA plays a crucial role in managing the lifecycle of research proposals and awards, ensuring compliance with institutional and sponsor regulations while fostering a collaborative environment among various departments and staff members.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with electronic grants submissions through Grants.gov and other portals.
  • Knowledge of NIH funding mechanisms, including R01, P01, P30, T32, and foundation proposals.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of proposals and multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with software products including Excel, Adobe Professional, and Docusign.
  • 7+ years of experience in academic research administration and familiarity with post-award financial management.
  • Demonstrated financial accounting skills for account reconciliation and report production.
  • Proven experience with financial systems and cost accounting standards for grants and contracts management.
  • Skill in fostering a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment.
  • Familiarity with FAR clauses and Workday.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the administration of research by providing relevant information to PIs and associated departments.
  • Support researchers within Clusters, which include multiple departments.
  • Supervise positions within the cluster, including proposal specialists and grants administrators.
  • Independently manage deadlines while providing guidance to direct reports on federal deadlines.
