This will be a year internship (52 weeks) to learn the skills of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) in order to be eligible to take a Board of Registry (BOR) exam that is acceptable for the California State CLS license. The CLS intern will rotate through each laboratory section as outlined by California for the internship under the direction of a licensed CLS. CLS Interns will be responsible to learn the duties as outlined in each section but cannot release results. At the completion of the year internship, the intern is considered a “GRADUATE CLS” and must take and successfully pass the BOR exam within three months from the internship graduation date.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical or Biological Science or Medical Technology.
  • Must have successfully completed the required Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and California education requirements such as Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, and Physics.
  • California Laboratory Scientist Training License (CLST) issued by the State of California.

Responsibilities
