About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to join our team to ensure program delivery is on schedule with technical delivery of a large Cloud Services government contract in Reston, VA. As a Cloud Software Engineer, you will help our customer with their cloud software development projects.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: US Citizen
  • Certifications: Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) Certification or demonstrate equivalent practical Kubernetes experience
  • Certified Ansible Enterprise Automation (EX467) or demonstrate equivalent practical Ansible experience
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related discipline or equivalent practical work experience
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g. C++, Go, Python)
  • 5 years of experience with software design, architecture, and software product lifecycle management (testing/launching software)
  • Experience with both Kubernetes and Ansible tools
  • Experience deploying/debugging Kubernetes microservices using Docker, Docker-compose, or Kubernetes.
  • Experience writing Docker/Bazel files to build a custom, lightweight open container image (OCI)
  • Experience developing backend for python web applications that interact with databases via API
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes customer resource objects (CRs)
  • Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to asses complex technical challenges and develop scalable, efficient solutions
  • Ability to present technical designs/updates to leadership, customers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to consult with customers to understand their business objectives, technical challenges, and development needs

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience in developing software for large scale systems
  • Experience in Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and related tools

Responsibilities

  • Develop Frontends and Backends for Customer Cloud Fleet Management greenfield projects
  • Work extensively with customer engineering and cloud engineering teams to survey existing pain points on customer products and propose solutions & improvements
  • Participate in and lead architecture and engineering designs with peers and stakeholders, and exercise technical judgment (e.g., deciding between available technologies)
  • Review code and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency)
