About The Position

Join a large, complex healthcare organization as a Senior Information Security Engineer within the Information Security department. This role is responsible for enhancing and maturing the organization's defensible security architecture across both network and cloud environments. In addition to leading security engineering initiatives, this role supports incident response activities and plays a key role in documenting and improving security processes, procedures, and SOC operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related IT field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of information security experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or lead engineering role
  • 5+ years of hands-on cloud security engineering experience, with strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure
  • 5+ years of experience designing and maintaining defense-in-depth strategies for complex network architectures
  • Strong understanding of threat modeling, risk assessment, and cloud security best practices
  • Deep knowledge of network routing, defensible architectures, and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
  • In-depth understanding of computing systems, data network communications, and network architecture
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI Layers 1–7
  • Solid working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Experience with vulnerability management, risk analysis, and forensics
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks including HIPAA, NIST, FERPA, and SOX
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of the Plan, Build, Run operating model within IT environments

Nice To Haves

  • Scripting or programming experience using tools such as Python, PowerShell, or Perl preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and enhancement of defensible network and cloud security architectures
  • Design, deploy, and manage security solutions within cloud environments, with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure
  • Implement cloud security controls and monitor compliance using tools such as Azure Security Center and Azure Policy
  • Assist with incident response efforts as needed, including investigation, documentation, and process improvement
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for SOC operations related to network and cloud security solutions
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and compliance teams to achieve enterprise security objectives
  • Document security processes and procedures for cloud monitoring and response teams
  • Develop project plans and lead security-related projects from initiation through delivery
  • Provide clear communication through status reporting, risk management, issue escalation, and project updates
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
