About The Position

As a Cloud Platform Engineer based in our Pittsburgh Office, you will be a key contributor to the operational excellence of Nuix's SaaS delivery model. This role is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about automation, containerization, and modern DevOps practices. You will be instrumental in implementing and managing the CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes infrastructure that powers our cutting-edge SaaS platform hosted on AWS. Your primary focus will be ensuring seamless deployment automation, container orchestration, and platform reliability for our global customers running Linux-based containerized workloads. This role requires hands-on expertise in building and maintaining automated deployment pipelines, managing Kubernetes clusters, and implementing Infrastructure as Code practices. You will work closely with development teams to streamline the software delivery lifecycle, optimize container deployments, and ensure the platform meets operational standards. If you are passionate about automation, Kubernetes, and continuous improvement in cloud-native environments, this is your opportunity to make a significant impact on Nuix's cloud journey. Location: This position will be based in our Pittsburgh office. The candidate is required to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week but may voluntarily elect to work either remotely or from the Pittsburgh office for the remaining days of the week.

  • Container Technology: Solid experience with Docker, including building optimized container images, multi-stage builds, registry management, and container best practices
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Proven ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools, with experience in automated testing and deployment workflows
  • Infrastructure as Code: Working proficiency with Terraform for provisioning AWS infrastructure and Kubernetes resources in a declarative manner
  • AWS Cloud Experience: Practical experience with core AWS services, particularly EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, ECR, and CloudWatch in production environments
  • Linux Systems: Strong Linux administration skills, including shell scripting, system troubleshooting, and understanding of Linux networking and security
  • Scripting/Programming: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation tasks
  • Networking: Understanding of cloud networking concepts including VPCs, subnets, load balancers, security groups, and service mesh concepts
  • Version Control: Experience with Git workflows, branching strategies, and collaborative development practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or cloud engineering roles with significant focus on containerization and automation

Nice To Haves

  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) or Kubernetes certification (CKA/CKAD) preferred
  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) is a plus
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog)
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native application design patterns
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot complex deployment and infrastructure issues
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and document technical solutions
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation for production support

Responsibilities

  • CI/CD Pipeline Implementation: Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar platforms to automate the build, test, and deployment of containerized applications
  • Kubernetes Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain Kubernetes clusters in AWS (EKS), including managing deployments, services, ingress controllers, and ensuring cluster health and performance
  • Container Orchestration: Manage Docker containerization workflows, image building, registry management, and container lifecycle across development and production environments
  • Infrastructure as Code: Implement and maintain infrastructure using Terraform to provision and manage AWS resources, Kubernetes configurations, and related cloud services in a repeatable, version-controlled manner
  • Automation Development: Write scripts and automation tools using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline deployment processes, reduce manual tasks, and improve operational efficiency
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Set up monitoring for Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or CloudWatch, and respond to alerts and performance issues
  • AWS Infrastructure Support: Work with AWS services including EKS, EC2, ECS, VPC, IAM, S3, and RDS to support the Linux-based container platform
  • Deployment Management: Execute and coordinate application deployments, rollbacks, and updates across multiple environments while minimizing downtime
  • Security Implementation: Apply security best practices for containers and Kubernetes, including image scanning, RBAC configuration, network policies, and secrets management
  • Collaboration: Partner with software developers, platform engineers, and operations teams to understand requirements, improve deployment processes, and support application lifecycle management
