Platinum Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Cloud Network Engineer to join our team supporting U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) under the Enterprise Development Application Training (EDAT) Program. This position is 100% on site at MacDill AFB, where you’ll play a key role in modernizing and securing cloud-based and hybrid network environments that support critical national security operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 5 + years of experience
  • Active TS/SCI required to start
  • DoD IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ or equivalent) required prior to start.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing AWS networking architectures (VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, VPNs).
  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, TCP/UDP, routing (L2/L3), VPNs, and firewalls across hybrid environments.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, or similar enterprise network solutions integrated with AWS.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues, document designs, and communicate technical solutions effectively to leadership and mission partners.
  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working on site within a fast-paced, mission-focused DoD environment.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.
  • Experience with SD-WAN, SASE, and hybrid interconnectivity solutions.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation or Terraform) for network automation.
  • Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, ScienceLogic SL1, PaloAlto Panorama, or AWS CloudWatch/CloudTrail.
  • Experience implementing DoD STIGs, Zero Trust, and other DoD security frameworks.
  • Background supporting USSOCOM or other Combatant Command network environments highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure, scalable network architectures across hybrid and AWS environments in support of USSOCOM missions.
  • Partner with technical teams, mission stakeholders, and cybersecurity personnel to assess existing environments, identify modernization opportunities, and build optimized AWS network solutions aligned with DoD standards.
  • Deploy and manage AWS networking services including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, and VPNs.
  • Engineer secure access solutions and Zero Trust–aligned network designs integrating on-prem, cloud, and classified enclave connectivity.
  • Drive network automation, scaling, and performance optimization strategies using AWS-native tools and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
  • Lead efforts to migrate legacy network services (ACLs, routing, firewall policies) into AWS equivalents while maintaining compliance and mission continuity.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and accreditation teams to ensure solutions meet DoD RMF, STIG, and FedRAMP High security standards.
  • Provide on-site engineering support at MacDill AFB for network troubleshooting, testing, and implementation activities.
