About The Position

Chartis Federal is a premier systems engineering and integration firm specializing in mission-critical IT and communications solutions for law enforcement, homeland security, and defense. As a trusted prime contractor with over $160 million in task order awards, we operate across 22 states and support essential government missions worldwide. We are seeking a Cloud Network Engineer to support a federal government customer located in Ashburn, VA. This is currently a full-time, on-site position supporting mission-critical communications and network infrastructure. This role will support the design, integration, modernization, and sustainment of IP-based communications networks and cloud-hosted application environments. The engineer will work across network design, troubleshooting, lab testing, and customer engagement to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable communications solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or DHS Tier 2 BI (or ability to obtain).
  • 10+ years of experience in IP networking relevant to enterprise or telecommunications environments
  • 5+ years of experience supporting or engineering cloud-hosted applications
  • Experience working within or supporting FedRAMP-authorized environments
  • Experience reviewing, evaluating, and modifying vendor network designs
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting wired and wireless IP networks
  • Experience working within formal change management processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills supporting technical and executive audiences

  • Experience supporting federal government or DoD communications programs
  • Experience with microwave communications or wireless mesh networks
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud or multi-cloud network architectures
  • Experience working in secure or classified environments
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust or secure network architecture principles

Responsibilities

  • Design, integrate, and modernize communications system networks, including cloud-hosted applications and emerging technologies
  • Develop IP network designs supporting telecommunications backhaul using routers, switches, and gateways
  • Create and maintain network diagrams, system topologies, and technical documentation
  • Troubleshoot issues in IP networks transported over wired, wireless, and microwave links
  • Configure and perform lab testing of new network components prior to deployment
  • Collaborate with core network operations teams on IP addressing, port assignments, and network integration activities
  • Submit and track network changes through formal change management processes
  • Gather customer requirements and translate mission needs into technical solutions
  • Support procurement, implementation, and lifecycle management of communications systems
  • Develop executive briefings, technical presentations, white papers, and written technical memorandums or stakeholders
