About The Position

About this role: Wells Fargo is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to drive the evolution of our GCP and Azure cloud platform by building scalable, secure, and resilient GCP and Azure foundations. In this role, you will provide technical leadership to engineering teams, mentor developers, define and champion best‑in‑class cloud engineering practices, and influence cloud strategy across the organization. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with GCP and Azure landing zones, Terraform, cloud governance, event-driven architectures, and modern DevOps/GitOps tooling. This role requires strong engineering leadership, architectural thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams to deliver innovative, enterprise‑grade cloud solutions. In this role, you will: Lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of highly complex, large‑scale Azure cloud solutions, applying deep expertise across distributed systems, security, data platforms, DevOps, and application modernization. Drive long‑term technical direction using vision, creativity, innovation, and advanced analytical thinking. Translate business objectives and enterprise technology requirements into Azure‑based engineering solutions, leveraging mastery of GCP and Azure services (e.g., App Services, AKS, Functions, Service Bus, Event Hub, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, APIM) and aligning architectures with organizational strategy, cloud governance, and modernization roadmaps. Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to engineering teams and senior leadership, defining cloud best practices, engineering standards, reference architectures, and patterns for reliability, performance, scalability, and security within GCP and Azure. Stay current on Azure advancements, industry best practices, and emerging technologies, and proactively recommend innovations such as cloud-native architecture, AI/ML capabilities, automation, and DevOps improvements to drive operational excellence and competitive advantage. Engage and influence stakeholders across engineering, security, infrastructure, and product organizations, serving as a trusted expert advisor on GCP and Azure strategy, architectural decisions, and enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
