About The Position

The Cloud Infrastructure Administrator supports enterprise infrastructure environments that host critical application stacks for teaching, research, and administrative services. Working with platform, server, and network engineers, this role assists in the operation and maintenance of compute and storage systems across virtualized and cloud-based environments. Responsibilities include supporting virtualization platforms, enterprise storage, data protection, and related infrastructure services. The role also assists with automation, monitoring, and lifecycle management activities to help ensure infrastructure is secure and reliable. This position reports to the Manager of Cloud Operations and Engineering within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience in information technology field, Associate’s and six years, or combination of education and experience equal to eight years
  • Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, familiarity with virtualized platforms (e.g., VMware, HyperV, or KVM)
  • Working knowledge of server operating systems and networking concepts (e.g., routing, load balancing, secure connectivity)
  • Experience assisting with infrastructure operations, maintenance, and monitoring
  • Experience working collaboratively with platform, server, or network engineers
  • Ability to create and maintain internal and user-facing documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Broad knowledge of several areas of information technology and thorough knowledge of specialty areas as required by department
  • Overall information technology skills as required by employing department
  • Organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and within a team
  • Ability to work effectively while remote, including remote customer support

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hybrid infrastructure environments (on-premises and cloud)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS
  • Experience assisting with automation, monitoring, and lifecycle management initiatives
  • Practical experience or exposure to infrastructure modernization initiatives and AI-assisted IT services
  • Experience supporting critical application stacks for teaching, research, or administrative services
  • Familiarity with enterprise storage concepts (SAN/NAS, RAID, storage provisioning)
  • Experience with scripting or automation of tasks and processes

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily operational management and support of enterprise virtualization platforms, storage solutions, and data protection solutions: Administration of Virtualization and Cloud platforms Administration of data backup and protection services aligning them with data retention, disaster recovery, and business continuity policies Configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of enterprise storage solutions including storage arrays and hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) for block and file scenarios, and cloud object and block storage solutions Coordination and collaboration with application management teams regarding server system requirements and provisioning needs Coordination with vendors for patching and upgrading of virtualization platforms, storage, and data protection solutions
  • Using CI/CD concepts for guidance, assist with managing, configuring, and ensuring the successful lifecycle of virtual and cloud-based assets in the USNH private and public cloud environments: Contribute to the automation of VM and compute resource provisioning and lifecycle management Assist with monitoring service performance and resource utilization and with the administration of automated performance analysis, anomaly detection, notification, and response Support the implementation of AI enhancements to improve IT automation processes, solutions, and data analysis Collaborate with other functional teams to ensure high availability, stability, scalability, and fault tolerance of server and service resources Assist with the creation and management of documentation
  • Contribute to additional assigned projects as a resource: Provide your input as a subject matter expert or representative of the infrastructure team Provide communication between the project team and your department leadership as needed Research solutions to support any deliverables of the assigned project
