For this position, we are seeking a talented individual to join AIS as a Security Engineer. Core Knowledge & Skills: Applies advanced network security, cryptography, vulnerability assessment, regulatory compliance, and access/governance principles. Work & Complexity: Conducts security assessments, handles incidents, implements policies, configures advanced security settings, and manages security devices. Quality & Independence: Conducts thorough assessments, produces clear documentation, improves practices, and works independently within project scope. Teamwork & Communication: Participates in team projects, shares knowledge, coordinates with other teams, and mentors junior staff. Consulting & Engagement: Advises internal teams, optimizes processes, evaluates technologies, and coordinates vendor support. As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Cloud Information Systems Security Engineer - Mid. Project Summary AIS is supporting a new Leidos account focused on architecture and infrastructure services in the Boston/Hanscom area. This is a subcontract engagement (approximately 15% workshare) with significant near-term hiring demand (~50 roles) to support federal mission delivery. Roles are primarily remote, with Massachusetts candidates preferred and availability targeted for March/April.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of relevant experience supporting enterprise cloud and/or infrastructure environments.
  • Certifications: IAT-2, 1 or more cloud certifications.
  • Able to obtain a minimum of a Secret security clearance; active Secret preferred.
  • Experience working in regulated environments and following secure engineering / documentation practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Secret clearance (or higher).
  • Massachusetts-based candidate or ability to support periodic on-site needs at Leidos sites in Concord or Tewksbury, MA.
  • Experience supporting DoD/IC programs and mission systems.

Responsibilities

  • Owns and manages the development of InfoSec engineering designs and implementation
  • Identifies security issues and risks, and develop mitigation plans for standards for cloud implementations
  • Architect, design, implement, support, and evaluate security-focused tools and services
  • Oversee assessment and mitigation of system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle
  • Validation of system security requirements definition and analysis
  • Establishing system security designs
  • Supports implementing security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures and verification of security requirements
  • Design and implement security controls for cloud environments aligned to applicable frameworks (e.g., NIST).
