MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Cloud FinOps Lead, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our federal government customer during a technology transformation. You will play a crucial role in optimizing cloud financial management by analyzing usage data, managing budgets, and implementing cost-saving strategies across cloud platforms. In this role you will be: Establishing and/Managing cloud financial operations functions in large or federated organizations to include chargeback/showback models tailored to business unit or department/location consumption patterns. Designing dashboards and reports using tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, Google Cloud Billing, or third-party tools like CloudHealth, Apptio, or CloudCheckr. Creating forecasting models and budget tracking processes aligned with enterprise or agency cloud strategies. Working across engineering, finance, and procurement teams to ensure efficient cloud resource planning and usage. Providing stakeholders' with CSP contract management support through pricing analysis, commitment planning, and usage optimization. Advising on FinOps operating models, KPIs, and best practices for cost transparency and financial accountability. Collaborating with application owners to identify savings opportunities through rightsizing, scheduling, or architecture redesign. Supporting the implementation of tagging strategies, cost allocation rules, and data governance for cloud spend visibility. Educating stakeholders and developing training materials to build internal FinOps awareness and capability.   • Establishing and/Managing cloud financial operations functions in large or federated organizations to include chargeback/showback models tailored to business unit or department/location consumption patterns.
  • Designing dashboards and reports using tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, Google Cloud Billing, or third-party tools like CloudHealth, Apptio, or CloudCheckr.
  • Creating forecasting models and budget tracking processes aligned with enterprise or agency cloud strategies.
  • Working across engineering, finance, and procurement teams to ensure efficient cloud resource planning and usage.

  • Educating stakeholders and developing training materials to build internal FinOps awareness and capability.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in IT financial management, cloud financial operations (FinOps), or enterprise cost governance
  • At least three (3) years of direct experience managing cloud cost optimization and forecasting across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), or hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
  • Experience performing the duties described above.
  • FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Professional (FinOps Foundation).
  • AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI cloud certification (e.g., Cloud Practitioner, Billing & Cost Management).
  • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or similar.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation or relevant service management certification
