About The Position

We are seeking a motivated Cloud FinOps & Generative AI Intern to join our Enterprise Solutions Architecture team. This role is ideal for a student with a strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, or data science, combined with basic programming skills (Python preferred). You will work closely with technical and executive leaders to transform raw data into actionable insights that drive cost optimization and strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Basic programming skills, preferably in Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools and basic understanding of prompt engineering.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver results from minimal or incomplete instructions.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create and troubleshoot moderate to complex formulas.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Three years of continuous U.S. residency for government security credential.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation for government facility access.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud cost management tools.
  • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools.
  • Interest in FinOps principles and cloud economics.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and distill disparate datasets into executive-ready summaries for meetings and RFP proposals.
  • Leverage tools such as AWS Cost Explorer, CloudCheckr, Copilot, and Claude to monitor and optimize cloud costs and generate insights.
  • Use Generative AI tools (primarily Copilot and Claude) to search raw data and create concise, high-quality summaries.
  • Apply prompt engineering techniques to maximize the effectiveness of AI tools.
  • Produce accurate results from basic or incomplete instructions, demonstrating strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving our past performance library, turning raw success metrics into usable data.
  • Support the team in applying FinOps principles for continual cost reduction across hybrid and cloud-only solutions.
  • Collaborate with architects and leadership on data-driven decision-making for AWS-based solutions.
  • Work with Excel spreadsheets for complex cloud project cost estimation, including creating and using moderate to complex formulas.
