Cloud Engineer

Strider TechnologiesTysons Corner, VA

About The Position

Strider Technologies delivers strategic intelligence that helps organizations make faster, more confident decisions in an increasingly complex global environment. Using cutting-edge AI and proprietary methodologies, we transform open-source data into actionable insights that help protect technology, talent, and supply chains from nation-state risks. Strider is seeking a high-ownership Cloud Engineer to help operate and evolve our AWS and Azure environments. This is a hands-on role responsible not only for maintaining production infrastructure, but for continuously improving it. We’re looking for someone who sees manual processes and replaces them with automation. Someone who sees inconsistent patterns and standardizes them. Someone who can support what exists today while building a more scalable and resilient foundation for tomorrow. You will work closely with Platform, Engineering, and Security to strengthen reliability, reduce operational toil, and mature our cloud architecture in a compliance-focused environment.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure or DevOps roles, with strong AWS expertise.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining production Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
  • Solid understanding of IAM, SSO, and secure access design in multi-account environments.
  • Experience managing Kubernetes/EKS clusters and containerized workloads at scale.
  • Actively incorporate AI-assisted tools into daily engineering workflows to reduce manual effort, improve delivery speed, and enhance operational efficiency without compromising reliability or security.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking fundamentals (VPCs, subnets, routing, VPNs, security groups).
  • Experience working in structured, compliance-oriented environments.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Bash for automation.
  • Strong Linux troubleshooting skills across distributed systems.
  • Experience operating Elasticsearch or similar distributed systems.
  • Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy infrastructure into more scalable patterns.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in FedRAMP or CMMC-aligned environments.
  • Exposure to orchestration frameworks such as Flyte or Airflow.
  • Experience designing or operating multi-region cloud architectures.
  • AWS Solutions Architect certification (Associate or Professional).

Responsibilities

  • Own and improve large-scale, multi-region AWS and Azure infrastructure supporting production workloads.
  • Design, implement, and refine Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK) to ensure consistent, repeatable environments.
  • Reduce operational overhead by building automation tooling in Python and Bash.
  • Strengthen access control models using IAM best practices, AWS Identity Center, and least-privilege principles.
  • Operate and improve Kubernetes (EKS) and Docker-based container environments.
  • Monitor performance, availability, and cloud spend — and drive measurable optimization initiatives.
  • Identify technical debt, scalability constraints, and reliability gaps, and propose practical improvements.
  • Modernize legacy workloads by containerizing and standardizing deployment patterns.
  • Partner with Security to ensure infrastructure aligns with SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and CMMC requirements.
  • Contribute to documentation and infrastructure standards that make the platform easier to operate and scale.
