As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for guiding, architecting, and supporting enterprise cloud initiatives across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments. Your role will involve designing secure, scalable, and high-performing cloud architectures while ensuring alignment with business, security, and compliance requirements, particularly within federal or health IT environments. You will play a crucial role in reviewing and tracking technical deliverables, aligning cloud modernization tasks to the program schedule, and managing timelines, resource usage, and dependencies effectively. Your ability to identify and mitigate risks will be essential as you own and maintain core architecture documentation, including cloud design blueprints, risk registers, issue logs, technical diagrams, and status reports. In this position, you will lead the creation and maintenance of cloud architecture documentation, ensuring clarity and accessibility for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You will oversee the development of operational procedures, review engineering workflows, validate cloud configurations, and ensure adherence to best practices in cloud governance, automation, networking, and security. Success in this role requires proactive leadership, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional, contractor, and federal teams. Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Architect or Cloud Engineer in federal government or health IT environments
  • Deep understanding of AWS and/or Azure cloud services, architectures, and security frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex architectures
  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail, multitasking, and documentation management
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, cloud management consoles, and project management software (MS Project, Jira, Confluence)
  • Experience supporting large-scale cloud migrations, modernization programs, or enterprise cloud operations
  • Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of cloud engineering, cloud architecture, or federal IT experience
  • US citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies
  • Experience working with agencies
  • Familiarity with supply chain, healthcare, asset management, or modernization initiatives
  • Cloud certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect Expert, AWS Security, Azure Security, Google Cloud Architect)
  • Agile certifications (CSM, SAFe, or PMI-ACP) preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
