Overview Corporate Banking (CB) is a technology centric business, with an increasing move to real-time processing, an increasing appetite from customers for integrated systems and access to supporting data. Joining our team is a unique opportunity to help rebuild the core of some of our most mission critical processing systems from the ground-up. As a Cloud Engineer, you will design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring cost efficiency in addition to other responsibilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
  • Cloud-native application architecture and deployment
  • Strong proficiency with administering and maintaining Kubernetes clusters and proficiency with tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Terraform, Helm, and Ansible for managing infrastructure and applications
  • Strong experience with (IaC) tools, including Terraform and GCP-native Deployment Manager
  • Expertise in security practices, IAM policies, and compliance requirements for cloud environments, as well as developing high-throughput, high-capacity applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud-based infrastructure and applications

Nice To Haves

  • Google Cloud certifications such as Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect, or Professional DevOps Engineer are highly valued
  • Experience with Kafka Messaging Broker, with Structured Query Language (SQL) databases, including GCP BigQuery, in managing Elasticsearch/Opensearch, and with Cloud Composer and Google Cloud DataProc would a plus
  • Expertise in deploying and managing Java applications is a plus
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across various technical and non-technical teams

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructures on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring cost efficiency
  • Plan infrastructure capacity and throughput to accommodate processing of large volumes of data; diagnose and eliminate performance bottlenecks; optimize cloud expenditures by leveraging cost-saving strategies like committed use discounts, autoscaling, and resource rightsizing
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Deployment Manager to automate and manage infrastructure deployments
  • Establish and enforce security protocols, Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies, and compliance measures to protect data and meet organizational requirements
  • Establish maintenance and troubleshooting operating procedures for cloud infrastructure
  • Create and maintain continuous integration/continuous deployment (or development) pipelines using tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions to enable automated and efficient application deployments
  • Stay updated with emerging cloud technologies and best practices within GCP
  • Collaborate effectively across various technical and non-technical teams
