About The Position

LightFeather is seeking a Cloud Engineer responsible for designing, deploying, and optimizing cloud-based infrastructure. This role requires strong expertise in cloud architecture, automation, security best practices, and DevOps methodologies. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure cloud systems are secure, scalable, and compliant with federal standards. This role offers the opportunity to support high-impact cloud modernization projects within the federal sector, ensuring secure and efficient operations that meet mission-critical requirements.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Willing to obtain a security clearance.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or systems administration.
  • Professional cloud certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IAM principles, encryption, security monitoring, and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST, DoD security standards).
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code, automation, and CI/CD tools.
  • Strong proficiency in cloud networking, DNS, VPN, and load balancing solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, Bash, and YAML/JSON.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting federal agencies or DoD cloud environments.
  • Experience with container orchestration and serverless technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting complex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise cloud environments.
  • Automate resource provisioning and configuration using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Implement cloud security best practices, including access management, encryption, monitoring, and adherence to federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST, RMF).
  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and automated deployments.
  • Configure monitoring, logging, and performance optimization solutions to maintain resilient systems.
  • Architect and optimize cloud networking and load balancing solutions for high availability and secure connectivity.
  • Support migrations and integration with hybrid environments.
  • Develop automation scripts using languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash to increase efficiency.
  • Design and implement backup strategies and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Partner with government agencies, DevOps teams, and security engineers to align cloud solutions with mission objectives.
