Job Summary The Cloud Engineer Senior manages the design, support and up-keep of the organization's hybrid cloud-based systems to ensure the organization can operate efficiently and safely. Working under minimal supervision, the Cloud Engineer Senior ensures that the hybrid cloud infrastructure and larger systems are working properly and meets the organization's needs.

Requirements

  • Hybrid (Greensboro, NC) - Required to be within one hour of driving time from Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands on experience with Azure designing, implementing, and maintaining IaaS platforms
  • At least 5 years of architecting and managing core cloud infrastructure components, including virtual networks, compute, storage, and identity services.
  • At least 3 years of hands on supporting on-premise virtualization infrastructure (VMware & Nutanix is preferred)
  • At least 2 years of managing the configuration, support, and documentation related to Disaster Recovery efforts for hybrid cloud workloads.
  • Platform-centric certification for cloud

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available IaaS and PaaS environments across the organization’s hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Architect and manage core cloud infrastructure components, including virtual networks, compute, storage, and identity services.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency through continuous monitoring and tuning.
  • Ensures the implementation of cloud solutions are implemented properly and efficiently given the organization's current needs.
  • Reviews cloud hardware, software, and applications to ensure data is secure and that security management and privacy requirements are incorporated.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution of incidents.
  • Remains up to date about new cloud products, technology, and best practices.
  • Manages the configuration, support, and documentation related to Disaster Recovery efforts for hybrid cloud workloads.
  • Ensures the enforcement of standards and best practices to provide efficient and cost-effective cloud solutions.
  • Interacts with other IT teams and/or project teams to provide support, implementation, and design recommendations for cloud workloads.
  • Oversees and supports the performance of storage systems to establish a reliable and scalable storage infrastructure.
  • Oversees and supports the implementation and integration of virtualization infrastructure (Azure, VMware, & Nutanix), operating systems (Windows & Linux), storage systems, and backup solutions with the existing IT environment for on-premise and cloud workloads.
  • Reviews the regular infrastructure utilization reports from junior colleagues to stay up to date on infrastructure usage and potential capacity constraints.
  • On call rotation required
  • Performs other duties as reasonably required or assigned.
