The Cloud Engineer at NYISO is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure and solutions. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure the efficient and secure utilization of cloud services, focusing on cloud security, infrastructure implementation, automation, performance monitoring, and documentation.

  • Implement security best practices and ensure cloud infrastructure is secure from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Implement access controls, encryption mechanisms, and data protection measures.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents, perform regular vulnerability assessments, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Implement scalable and highly available cloud architectures, including virtual networks, storage, and compute resources.
  • Configure and manage cloud services like virtual machines, containers, serverless computing, databases, load balancers, and CDN services.
  • Develop automation scripts and templates to streamline cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment processes.
  • Utilize infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation to automate the deployment and management of cloud resources.
  • Implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to enable efficient software delivery and updates.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment guides, and standard operating procedures.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and solutions.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud computing concepts, designs, and services.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using languages such as Python or shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and tools, including CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Understanding of core AWS services (EC2, VPCs, IAM, S3, load balancers, etc.).
  • Understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
