Come make a difference at MGIC. About the Role MGIC is seeking a motivated Cloud Engineer Intern to join our Infrastructure team this summer. This internship offers hands-on experience working with modern cloud platforms, automation, and scalable infrastructure in a real-world enterprise environment. You’ll collaborate with experienced Cloud engineers and contribute to projects that support critical business systems. This is an excellent opportunity for students looking to build practical cloud and DevOps skills. This position is based in Milwaukee, WI

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a technology related field.
  • Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Familiarity with at least one cloud platform
  • Exposure to Linux or Windows operating systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines is a plus
  • Basic scripting or programming experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing)
  • Coursework or labs related to cloud or DevOps

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and maintaining cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Private Cloud)
  • Support Infrastructure as Code initiatives using tools such as Terraform.
  • Help monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud environments
  • Participate in automation efforts using scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash)
  • Collaborate with teams on cloud security, networking, and cost optimization
  • Document processes, configurations, and best practices
  • Learn and apply cloud governance and security standards
