About The Position

Our client is seeking an experienced Cloud Data Platform Administrator to support the deployment, security, and operations of a modern Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) within a secure AWS GovCloud environment. This role will focus on AWS infrastructure administration, Terraform automation, CI/CD integration, and secure cloud platform operations supporting enterprise analytics and AI/ML workloads. The administrator will work closely with engineering, security, and platform teams to ensure the environment remains secure, scalable, compliant, and highly available. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with cloud infrastructure operations, monitoring, governance, and cost optimization, along with the ability to automate infrastcture management and support a highly secure government cloud environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working with enterprise cloud platforms or DevOps environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting systems integration, systems analysis, or cloud platform development.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience building AWS infrastructure using Terraform or similar Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering AWS environments, including IAM, VPC networking, object storage security, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience with AWS services such as PrivateLink, Secrets Manager, Systems Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, S3 bucket policies, and KMS encryption key management.
  • Understanding of cloud architecture components, including application servers, load balancers, caching layers, and distributed storage.
  • Experience implementing identity and access management practices, including SSO, RBAC models, and least-privilege access.
  • Familiarity with identity federation technologies such as SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect.
  • Awareness of government cloud compliance requirements, such as FedRAMP or FISMA.
  • Experience automating infrastructure and platform operations using Terraform, CLI scripting, or APIs.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Ruby, or Go.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, NAT, route tables, access control lists, and HTTP/IP networking.
  • Familiarity with cloud architecture principles, including loosely coupled and stateless systems.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, security, and platform teams.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data platforms, analytics environments, or AI/ML workloads.
  • SQL knowledge and familiarity with data pipelines such as ETL/ELT workflows.
  • Basic familiarity with Python or Scala for troubleshooting notebooks or pipelines.
  • Experience working within compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, or SOC 2.
  • Experience supporting SLA/SLO management and incident response processes.
  • Experience working with vendor platforms such as Databricks.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Administration
  • Provision and manage AWS GovCloud infrastructure components including networking, compute, storage, IAM, and monitoring.
  • Implement secure-by-default cloud configurations aligned with agency security requirements.
  • Support cloud services used by analytics and data platforms including storage integrations, encryption patterns, and secure endpoints.
  • Coordinate with cloud and network teams on private connectivity, firewall requirements, and secure networking patterns.
  • Platform Monitoring and Operational Support
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, operational dashboards, and platform health checks.
  • Maintain operational runbooks and incident response procedures.
  • Configure and manage logging and auditing capabilities using services such as CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
  • Support incident response and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve platform issues.
  • DevOps Automation
  • Automate infrastructure management using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Support CI/CD pipeline integration and automated deployments across environments.
  • Manage upgrades, configuration changes, and platform improvements through structured change management processes.
  • Governance, Cost Optimization, and Capacity Planning
  • Implement cost controls such as workload scheduling, cluster policies, and resource sizing standards.
  • Monitor platform usage and identify opportunities to optimize cloud costs.
  • Support capacity planning and ensure the platform can scale with increasing workloads and user demand.
  • Platform Enablement and Integration
  • Support integrations with external tools such as BI platforms (e.g., Power BI) and metadata catalog systems.
  • Build and manage isolated proof-of-concept environments for testing new capabilities.
  • Assist with user onboarding, including workspace access provisioning and documentation.
  • Maintain platform documentation, including configuration standards, troubleshooting guides, and operational procedures, to ensure consistency and accuracy.
