Cloud Computing Application Architect
About The Position
As a Cloud Computing Application Architect, you will be responsible for creating cloud-based technical architectures that meet client needs and leverage cloud capabilities, specifically to improve public health data modernization. This role involves leading the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and modern cloud solutions for public health data modernization initiatives. You will utilize the latest cloud technologies to enhance client environments, working with engineers, product teams, and data modernization stakeholders to shape strategy and design, and ensure adherence to standards during implementation and delivery. Your responsibilities will include recommending tools and solutions based on environmental research and knowledge of on-premise, cloud-based, and hybrid resources. You will also lead technical teams in addressing complex cloud challenges and will have opportunities to expand your expertise in automation, cloud-based security, and modern DevOps practices, all while developing critical systems to advance national public health outcomes. This position is located in Atlanta, GA.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience designing, configuring, and administering enterprise applications in cloud environments
- 4+ years of experience developing with .NET, Entity Framework, and SQL
- Experience architecting and deploying solutions in AWS and hybrid cloud environments
- Experience developing secure and cloud-based architectures while adhering to engineering and cloud governance standards
- Experience with Gen-AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code
- Experience deploying and troubleshooting IaaS environments and Linux or Unix-based systems, including shell scripting
- Knowledge of CI/CD and automation tools, such as GitHub Actions
- Ability to lead technical teams
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
- HS diploma or GED
Nice To Haves
- Experience optimizing cloud cost management and implementing governance frameworks
- Experience with CDC processes, data modernization efforts, and federal IT environments
- Master’s degree in Computer Science
- Cloud, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, or Professional Certification
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert Certification
Responsibilities

- Lead technical teams as they help the client overcome their most difficult challenges in the cloud
- Broaden skill set in areas like automation, cloud-based security, and modern DevOps practices
- Develop critical systems that advance national public health outcomes
