About The Position

The Leidos Health and Services sector is seeking a Cloud Architect who will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of new architectural features into existing cloud infrastructures (e.g., AWS/Azure IL4/High, MuleSoft GovCloud) while maintaining the integrity and security of enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks. contingent upon contract award Requires US Citizenship, current location in the UNITED STATES and the ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance. This role: Applies cybersecurity standards, directives, guidance, and policies to the cloud architectural framework. Incorporates industry best practices and lessons learned into future iterations and new designs for the cloud hosting environment. Provides expertise throughout the systems engineering lifecycle and supports specific cybersecurity initiatives related to cloud architectural design and development. Resolves cloud architecture implementation issues during integration and testing and interface with internal and external stakeholders for various solution-related activities. Responsible for supporting disaster recovery solutions (i.e., RTO).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an additional four years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Five to eight years of enterprise-level cloud architecture experience.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification required; cloud security certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of multi-tier cloud and hybrid architectures, including data privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of DOW information security principles, Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements, and enterprise security standards.
  • Experience with enterprise application integration technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, test automation, and configuration management.
  • Experience designing high-availability and disaster recovery architectures.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines in a customer-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality service to internal and external customers, including in high-demand situations.
  • U.S. citizenship and fluency in English required.
  • Ability to successfully pass criminal history, fingerprint background checks, and credential verification required.
  • Ability to maintain and retain suitability investigation and clearance as required.
  • Proficient in navigating electronic systems, computer programs, and virtual service platforms.
  • This position requires a separate, quiet, private, confidential space to work from, as well as having access to your own reliable high-speed internet hard wired to your home (coax or fiber from the Internet Service Provider (ISP) to your home.) Using a hot spot from a mobile device (tethering) or wireless ISP is not acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and integration of enterprise cloud architectures across AWS, Azure IL4/High, MuleSoft GovCloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Apply federal cybersecurity standards, directives, and policies to cloud architectural designs to ensure compliance, integrity, and security.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to refine business and technical requirements and develop balanced, scalable, and secure cloud solutions.
  • Perform security audits and gap analyses of business-critical applications and cloud infrastructure, and recommend remediation strategies aligned with industry best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Design architectures that support high availability, scalability, cost optimization, and disaster recovery objectives, including defined recovery time objectives (RTO).
  • Develop infrastructure automation using tools such as Terraform and Packer to provision and manage cloud environments efficiently.
  • Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies to minimize downtime and support zero-downtime objectives where feasible.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and impact assessments focusing on security, cost control, scalability, performance, and operational resilience.
  • Support incident response activities and prepare post-incident analysis reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to resolve architecture-related issues during integration, testing, and deployment.
  • Participate in enterprise architecture governance and review boards to ensure alignment with organizational standards and objectives.
  • Provide architectural guidance on cloud cost management and resource optimization without negatively impacting mission performance.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
