About The Position

We are seeking a Senior/Principal Cloud Architect for an on-site position in Plano, Texas, at a leading financial technology organization. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the design, execution, and oversight of the company's cloud infrastructure with a strong emphasis on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will act as a technical team leader (without direct managerial reports), guiding cloud initiatives to meet business goals and strict security/compliance standards typical of the banking industry. The ideal candidate will combine deep cloud expertise with exceptional leadership and collaboration skills to drive innovation across cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8-10 years of IT experience (with at least 5 years in cloud architecture or infrastructure roles).
• Demonstrated experience designing and deploying solutions on AWS.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services and architecture.
• Hands-on proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
• Strong understanding of network design and security architecture in cloud environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex cloud ecosystems.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with hybrid or multi-cloud environments (Azure or GCP).
• Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with Databricks or Apache Spark for data processing in the cloud.

Responsibilities

• Architect and Implement Cloud Solutions: Design scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures on AWS to meet enterprise requirements.
• Cloud Migration & Modernization: Lead cloud migration projects and infrastructure modernization efforts, leveraging tools like Databricks for data analytics and Cloudflare for network optimization and security.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, DevOps, security, and product teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing systems.
• Security and Compliance: Develop and enforce network and cloud security measures in line with industry regulations.
• Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to automate provisioning and configuration.
• Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor cloud system performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
• Disaster Recovery & Documentation: Develop robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud systems.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership to engineering teams, guiding them in best practices for cloud development and operations.
• Emerging Technology & Vendor Management: Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and evaluate their potential benefit.
