About The Position

Koniag IT systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Cloud Architect Level 3 with a TS/SCI security clearance to support KITS and our government customer in Arlington, VA. The position is hybrid requires 3 days onsite. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. Koniag Government Services (KGS) is seeking exceptionally qualified Cloud Architects at the Level 3 designation to support the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) under the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC) Engineering Support contract. The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical subject matter expert (SME) providing cloud architecture analysis, feasibility research, and strategic advisory support across all major Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) and service delivery models, including off-premises, on-premises, hybrid, and tactical edge offerings. The Cloud Architect Level 3 must be capable of analyzing DoD demand signals, evaluating Commercial Service Offerings (CSOs), and translating complex cloud architectural considerations into actionable recommendations for senior Government decision-makers. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional written and oral communication skills and possess a polished ability to engage with senior DoD executives, CSP partners, and interagency stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in cloud architecture, IT systems engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience working in large-scale, complex IT environments of comparable size and scope to DISA or other DoD enterprise-level programs.
  • Experience with cloud architecture design, analysis, and advisory support across at least two of the JWCC-awarded CSPs (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud).
  • Experience with cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and deployment models including off-premises, on-premises, hybrid, and tactical edge environments.
  • Experience evaluating CSP deliverables and CSOs against DoD security and compliance requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, DoD CC SRG, STIGs).
  • Demonstrated experience briefing senior government executives and preparing executive-level technical documents and presentations.
  • Strong working knowledge of large, complex DoD IT environments including enterprise cloud infrastructure, networking, virtualization, and identity management.
  • Deep comprehension of cloud architecture best practices, migration methodologies, and cloud-native design patterns as applied to DoD mission requirements.
  • Ability to analyze and translate complex technical requirements into actionable findings, recommendations, and documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms with all levels of staff, stakeholders, and senior Government executives.
  • Familiarity with DoD security requirements, acquisition policy, and governance frameworks as applied to cloud computing (e.g., DoD Cloud Strategy, DISA Cloud Connection Process Guide).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources to develop innovative solutions.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate technical discussions with government and contractor personnel from disparate backgrounds and build consensus among stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with collaboration and project tracking tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Atlassian Jira/Confluence).
  • Exceptional written communication skills; demonstrated ability to produce high-quality white papers, technical memoranda, analysis reports, and briefing materials under tight deadlines.
  • Must hold applicable baseline and/or advanced certifications aligned to the assigned work role designation (e.g., Systems Architecture, Systems Requirements Planning) IAW DoD 8140.01 and applicable DISA policy at time of award.
  • Current certification from at least one JWCC CSP at the professional/architect level (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional; Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert; Google Professional Cloud Architect; Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect Professional).
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must hold an active Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in a relevant technical discipline preferred.
  • Certifications across multiple JWCC CSPs are strongly preferred given the multi-cloud nature of this requirement.
  • CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent IAW DoD 8570/8140 IAT/IAM baseline requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Research the technical feasibility of CSOs across multiple CSPs in alignment with DoD demand signals and evolving mission requirements.
  • Provide technical oversight and detailed analysis of cloud architecture design activities, ensuring alignment with DoD business objectives, security requirements, and best practices.
  • Analyze DoD demand signals to inform strategic decision-making, technology roadmaps, and cloud adoption planning.
  • Provide comprehensive analysis of XaaS CSOs across multiple CSPs, encompassing off-premises, on-premises, hybrid, and tactical edge delivery models.
  • Evaluate CSO specifications against DoD security, compliance, and performance requirements; identify gaps and recommend remediation or risk mitigation approaches.
  • Brief the DISA user community and stakeholders on cloud adoption questions, providing technical information on XaaS specifications and capabilities.
  • Contribute to user community round tables regarding cloud adoption strategies and CSO implementation considerations.
  • Coordinate and support the preparation of input for verification of CSP requirements into Government-provided tools and tracking mechanisms.
  • Assess other DoD contract capabilities and CSP deliverables related to DISA cloud contracts; provide comparative analysis relative to JWCC.
  • Provide analysis on the utilization of the JWCC contract vehicle in relation to commercial cloud market trends and industry practices.
  • Support technical exchange meetings with CSPs and Strategic Partners; prepare and deliver technical briefings and meeting materials.
  • Provide technical expertise on CSO capabilities in alignment with DoD governance requirements and policy frameworks.
  • Review and analyze CSP deliverables, assisting the Government in validating that DoD requirements and standards are satisfied.
  • Draft, edit, and consolidate technical documents, briefing slides, white papers, summary reports, and other informational deliverables.
  • Participate in On-the-Job Training activities and contribute to knowledge transfer within the team.
  • Assist other team members across task areas as required to accomplish the overall contract mission.
