About The Position

HATCI is seeking a Closures Mechanism Engineer Intern for Summer 2026! The intern will benchmark features of Truck Mechanisms for future consideration in TV / TE projects, review other vehicles with Cab Back Dropping Back Glass, and collaborate with Closures BIW Intern to develop a proposal for a Truck Back Panel dropping glass Mechanism system. The role involves working out the regulator motor drive requirements and safety considerations with moving glass, developing and reporting results of IQS customer complaints for dropping back glass systems, and creating a cheap prototype model of the Cab back dropping glass control and mechanism system. Additionally, the intern will help define some requirements and design considerations for future program UXP, support and interface with other engineering and design functions for vehicle development, review part/system performance and regulatory requirements, participate in benchmarking activities, assess field claims, customer feedback and other sources, and recommend engineering improvements. The intern will also study and interpret regulations and performance requirements and support advanced development of Closure Mechanism systems and components for future vehicles.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree.
  • Be a passionate engineer who wants to help develop future Truck's UXP's.
  • Have a passion for learning new technical and soft skills to make themselves a better engineer and a more rounded team member.
  • Be open to mentor scenarios and learn from others.
  • Have an open and easy-going attitude and be a team player.
  • Familiarity with MS Office to prepare reports/spreadsheets as necessary to support project work.
  • Basic CAD and 3D design experience.
  • Self-motivated drive to learn more, do more, achieve more.

Responsibilities
