The Closing Team Leader at Target is responsible for ensuring a positive guest experience during the closing hours of the store. This role involves leading a team to maintain store operations, prioritize guest service, and drive sales performance while fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Closing Team Leader will also support team development and operational efficiency, ensuring that the store is prepared for the next day.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and modeling inclusive behaviors.
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest experience and coach team members to deliver service standards.
  • Understand the role in sales growth and how each area contributes to total store profitability.
  • Lead and execute best practices for team onboarding and learning, helping to close skill gaps through coaching and interactions.
  • Problem solve and prioritize across multiple business areas to execute store strategies and deliver business results.
  • Assist leaders through communication and collaboration to influence sales performance and workload deliverables.
  • Support store operations by ensuring departments are zoned, in-stock, signed, and labeled appropriately.
  • Use business planning tools to share priorities and updates with store leadership.
  • Take action to achieve performance goals and evaluate candidates for open positions.
  • Support team onboarding and learning, helping to close skill gaps through development and coaching.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations for team members and hold them accountable.
  • Follow all safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier.
  • Address store needs such as emergencies and regulatory visits.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, holding the team accountable to these standards.
  • Support guest services such as order pick up and Drive-up orders, maintaining compliance with relevant laws.
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to operate technology equipment as directed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong workload management and task prioritization skills.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a leadership role within retail or customer service environments.
