About The Position

The Closing Manager is responsible for overseeing store operations during closing hours, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining high standards in grocery department operations, inventory management, merchandising, and food safety. Responsibilities for all staff Employees must be courteous, attentive, and professional with customers, vendors and peers and represent the company in a manner that will not discredit or disparage while on the clock and when in uniform outside of work. Employees must follow all safety rules and procedures and ensure that the store is kept in compliance with safety regulations at all times. Attendance and timeliness are a must for each shift. Principle Responsibilities job specific: Arrives at the workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; works all scheduled shifts and attends required training courses and meetings. Develop and implement strategies to drive sales and increase profitability. Manage the store's budget, including monitoring expenses and minimizing waste. Ensure that the store is properly stocked with products and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking. Ensuring store layout is customer-friendly and products are easily accessible. Hire, train, and firing staff, ensuring excellent customer service is provided by all and each employee is aware and follows company policies and procedures. Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures to maintain a safe and clean environment for staff and customers. Monitor and analyze sales and customer data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with suppliers and negotiate contracts to ensure competitive pricing and quality products. Resolve customer complaints and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Resolve internal conflicts ensuring that policies and procedures are followed, and appropriate personnel are notified of the event and documentation if any is placed in the file. Stay informed about market trends, new products, and competitors to make informed business decisions and maintain a competitive edge. Conduct regular performance evaluations of staff and provide feedback and coaching to promote professional growth. Monitoring safety and health regulations ensure all are being adhered to in each department. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Strong leadership and management skills to effectively lead and motivate a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, customers, and suppliers effectively. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks. Sound financial management skills to analyze financial data and make informed decisions. Knowledge of supermarket operations, including merchandising, inventory control, and customer service. Proficiency in using computer systems and software for inventory management, sales reporting, and other administrative tasks. Knowledge of OSHA and Certifications necessary for the handling of raw and cooked foods. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system, and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, etc. and checkout procedures according to company policy. Ensuring that managers and staff have received training as appropriate. Understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs) Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Retail Management, or a related field (preferred). Proven experience as a Supermarket Manager, General Manager/Store Director, or in a similar role. Knowledge of retail industry trends and best practices. Familiarity with safety and sanitation regulations and standards. Strong understanding of financial management principles. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Excellent customer service skills.
