The opportunity We’re looking for an ambitious, relationship-driven reporter to maintain our best in market coverage of the $1 trillion+ CLO market, based in New York. This is a front-line reporting role in one of the most sophisticated and fast-moving areas of credit. You’ll be embedded in the market, speaking daily with CLO managers, arrangers, investors, lawyers,and more. Success in this role depends on your ability to build trust, maintain strong relationships, and turn insight into exclusive, agenda-setting coverage. You should be energised by meeting people, comfortable engaging senior market participants, and motivated by breaking news. Just as importantly, you’re collaborative, generous with colleagues, and someone who contributes positively to a team environment. The role is New York–based and includes opportunities to travel for industry conferences.

Requirements

Experienced – 2+ years of experience in breaking news and source building. Experience with structured credit or debt capital markets is a strong positive but not essential.
Personable – A natural ability to connect with a wide range of sophisticated market participants. Confident in engaging senior investors, bankers, and asset managers
Driven — Endlessly curious, self-motivated, and passionate about doing a good job
Organised — Able to maintain a deep network of sources, stay on top of story pipeline and deadlines
Communicative — Clear and concise in your written and verbal language, and able to explain complex ideas in simple terms

Responsibilities

Breaking news – You’ll regularly break stories on what’s going on in the CLO market
Feature writing – You’ll identify emerging trends in issuance, pricing, structuring, and investor activity with monthly trend pieces
Monitoring markets – You’ll expand your knowledge and connect the dots with the wider debt market to collaborate with colleagues across verticals in distressed debt, leveraged finance, private credit and ESG
Generate ideas and deliver clear, concise reporting under deadline pressure
