About The Position

Clinician will provide client outreach and engagement, crisis intervention, individual and group short term and long-term therapy services for Real Alternative housing youth ages 18-24 years old. The clinician will coordinate with housing case managers, community counseling therapist, county and community partners to assist youth in transitions to independence. The clinician will offer support to all RA youth in some capacity with an ongoing clinician caseload of 15-25 youth. The full-time position exempt position may require work weeks to exceed more than 40 hours as well as evening and weekend work.

Requirements

  • Masters in social work or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited university or college.
  • Registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • At least two years of experience working with adolescents, preferably current and/or former foster youth
  • California Department of Justice and FBI fingerprint clearance as well as TB test clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
  • A valid California driver's license, dependable personal automobile for use on the job, insurable by SBS' insurance

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and complete necessary clinical records and documents, including progress notes, clinical assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, within assigned timeframes, and perform Medi-Cal administrative activities.
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities to provide weekly community-based individual therapy and clinical case management services to a caseload of 15 to 25 youth.
  • Effectively build therapeutic rapport with youth and partner with youth in identifying and working on short and long-term mental health and independent living skills goals.
  • Utilize a strengths-based approach to complete clinical assessments and CANS/ANSA-T needs assessments related to various life domains.
  • Partner with youth in acquiring access to community settings and resources including, but not limited to, health care, employment, school, housing, benefits, etc.
  • Monitor the progress of clients through weekly meetings in which the CCM partners with the youth in identifying and working on short and long-term clinical goals.
  • Use a strength-based approach to partner with youth in creating a Treatment Plan and developing and monitoring progress of monthly goals.
  • Safeguard the dignity and protect the rights and individuality of each youth in care to enhance their self- respect
  • On-call responsibilities as needed
  • Transport youth in vehicle on a daily basis
  • Coordinate and facilitate clinical youth groups
  • Collaborate with House Services Case managers around youth engagement supports including but limited to participating in roommate meetings, assisting in writing program agreements, and consulting recommendations
  • Participate in weekly Real Alternatives meetings, Individual Clinical Supervision, and Group Clinical Supervision Team meetings.
