About The Position

The Clinician at Somerville Homeless Coalition is responsible for providing direct outreach and engagement to both unsheltered and sheltered homeless populations. This role involves assisting individuals in accessing necessary programs, resources, and services, while also focusing on building relationships to facilitate mental health assessments and disability verifications. The position requires working in various weather conditions and includes crisis intervention, support, and advocacy for the homeless community.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Social Work or related field.
• LICSW or LCSW licensure required.
• Valid driver's license and access to a car.
• Experience working with homeless populations and individuals with disabilities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in crisis intervention and mental health counseling.
• Familiarity with behavioral health and addiction services.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct outreach to engage the unsheltered and sheltered homeless population.
• Perform crisis intervention and connect individuals to housing and health services.
• Design and facilitate support groups for individuals experiencing homelessness.
• Conduct regular street outreach and travel to shelters and streets in the region.
• Manage behavioral health symptoms and de-escalate crises with individuals in need.
• Address immediate survival needs by distributing food, water, and clothing.
• Complete mental health and biopsychosocial assessments for clients.
• Organize and maintain accurate client files and program reports.
• Enter comprehensive notes and assessments into online database systems.
