UPMC Presbyterian, a Magnet-designated hospital, is seeking a full-time Clinician for Pulmonary Medicine unit 10DG. This role represents a critical step in the UPMC nursing career ladder, providing avenues for professional advancement and ongoing development. What is 10DG? 10D-10G is a 29-bed pulmonary medicine unit caring for pulmonary transplant patients as well as patients with advanced conditions including (but not limited to) cystic fibrosis, COPD, asthma, scleroderma, sleep apnea, sarcoidosis, and pulmonary hypertension. 10 D/G is classified as a stepdown unit; we commonly receive patients from the Medical ICU and acuity can change quickly. We encounter many specialized medications and equipment types, and we perform bronchoscopies, thoracentesis, and line placement at the bedside. Our nurses value teamwork, professionalism, and excellent patient care. What is a Clinician? The Clinician is a senior nursing role focusing on expert clinical practice, teaching, and evidence-based practice. Working closely with management, the Clinician helps foster a culture of excellence in nursing and patient care. Under the direction of the Unit Director or Department Manager, they assist with employee evaluations, hiring, and performance management. The Clinician holds responsibility for nursing care delivery on their shift, leveraging advanced clinical knowledge and skills to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. They provide service-based education, including staff orientation, training, and consultation on practice issues. The role also involves coordinating clinical activities and applying principles of growth and development across the lifespan. The Clinician must demonstrate expertise in assessing patient data and addressing age-specific needs, while showing a strong commitment to both the community and the nursing profession.
