About The Position

Community Mental Health Affiliates, Inc. (CMHA) is a private non-profit treatment provider headquartered in New Britain, with seven locations throughout the city and in Waterbury. We partner with clients and the community to promote recovery from mental illness and substance use, treating more than 7,500 adults and children each year. CMHA is looking to hire an Outpatient Clinician II for the Northwest Region. This position will be located in Waterbury. Compensation Range: The annual salary range for this position starts at $68,500. Clinician II are eligible for a $7,000k sign-on Incentive. Compensation for each position is determined not only by years of relevant experience, education, and skills, but also by maintaining internal pay equity. Position Summary: Serves as active part of a multidisciplinary team that provides outpatient treatment services in a structured therapeutic environment for adults, children, and adolescents who present with a wide range of behavioral health needs. Utilizes evidence-based practices (EBPs) to facilitate positive strength-based change. Engages parents, family members and other pertinent adults to support the therapeutic process. Treatment is aimed at assisting individuals and families by helping them develop the skills necessary to improve their quality of life. Candidates with prior training or certification in an EBP such as TF-CBT or MATCH-ADTC are highly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in behavioral health (psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, alcohol and drug counseling).
  • Connecticut license as LCSW, LMFT, LPC.
  • Valid DMV License.
  • Successful experience in the provision of mental health services with children, adolescents, and families; a minimum of two years.
  • Experience in, or the ability and willingness to be trained in Evidence Based Treatment modalities such as TF-CBT or MATCH-ADTC.
  • Demonstrates intermediate experience with Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
  • Experience in, or the ability or willingness to learn how to use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system which includes appointment scheduling, authorization tracking, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes and discharge summaries.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, diagnoses and recommends appropriate treatment for adults, children, and families and assists with appropriate referrals and linkage to other services.
  • Completes assessment tools, integrates pertinent information to establish diagnosis, and analyzes data to create clinical formulation within designated timeframe.
  • Develops achievable goals with client and family; with measurable and behavioral objectives within designated timeframes. Monitors treatment progress and provides updates within identified timeframes and as necessary.
  • Performs individual, family and group treatment utilizing evidence-based practices (EBPs) such as TF-CBT, MATCH-ADTC, DBT, CBT, and EMDR to facilitate positive strength-based change.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with external agencies such as schools, pediatricians, DCF, juvenile court and other social service agencies.
  • Responds to crisis situations and triages appropriately, communicating clearly with professionals –internal and external – to meet presenting client needs.
  • Provides referrals and linkage to community and internal resources.
  • Secures reimbursement by obtaining authorizations, providing accurate documentation and the submitting progress notes in a timely manner.
  • Completes documentation within designated timeframes as established by CMHA and external regulatory agencies.
  • Performs others related duties as assigned.
