About The Position

Community Mental Health Affiliates, Inc. (CMHA) is a private non-profit treatment provider headquartered in New Britain, with seven locations throughout the city and in Waterbury. We partner with clients and the community to promote recovery from mental illness and substance use, treating more than 7,500 adults and children each year. Internal mobility and career pathing is a focus at CMHA with many employees growing from individual contributors to leaders. CMHA is looking to hire a Clinician I or II for our Mobile Crisis Team. This position will be located at 233 Main St. New Britain Ct 06051. Monday - Friday, 12:00pm - 8:00pm. Flexible work arrangements vary by program. Position Summary: Provides both initial and ongoing assessment of clients in crisis in the community, and collaborates with other team members to ensure optimal, recovery‐oriented care to both mental health and co‐occurring individuals through a variety of treatment services, including but not limited to and crisis assessment and management, as well as daily clinical consultation with staff and clients. Serves as a liaison to local police and emergency services organizations on crisis services, providing outreach and education on crisis services and developing partnerships to effectively respond to clients in crisis.

Requirements

  • Clinician I: Must have associates license (MFTA, PCA, LMSW); Must be eligible for LCSW, LMFT, LPC
  • Clinician II: Must have a Connecticut license as a LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or Ph.D. as appropriate for services.
  • Will be certified in MANDT, first aid, and CPR
  • Valid Connecticut Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish/English)

Responsibilities

  • Works as member of a Crisis Team primarily through assessing and stabilizing crisis of individuals in the community.
  • Provides phone triage and support to clients in need of crisis services or ongoing phone consultation.
  • Develops and maintains recovery‐ oriented therapeutic relationships with individuals in crisis through ongoing assessment and stabilization efforts.
  • Collaborates with peers/staff to develop client treatment strategies and formulate diagnoses.
  • Manages emergency and crisis situations using risk screening and assessments, mental status exams, and collaboration with other team members and community providers.
  • Collaborates with clinical team to develop person‐centered strengths based safety planning.
  • Refers and links clients to ongoing clinical services as needed.
  • Ensures all documentation requirements and billing procedures are completed and submitted in a timely manner to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement of agency services.
  • Ensures that all state, federal, Joint Commission and other oversight regulations are strictly adhered to. Reviews regulations with staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
