The Behavioral Health Psychiatric Residential Treatment Program (PRTF) Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program provides 24-hour, out-of-home services for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges who need intensive services. The program serves children and adolescents, biological female youth who are 12 to 17 years old at the time of admission. The program is inclusive for all youth with respect to sexual orientation and gender identity. Trauma-informed care is the guiding treatment philosophy throughout the program. Thus, it is a recovery-focused program based on a comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy model which has opportunities for ongoing assessment of needs and risks, and high levels of family engagement opportunities to support successful outcomes. Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or other related Human Services discipline.
  • Two years of experience providing mental health treatment preferred.
  • Previous clinical experience in a behavioral healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Devereux DPACS utilizes evidence-based practices to support progress toward healthy coping and relationships for the individuals we serve.
  • Experience in evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, functional assessment and behavioral interventions are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Creates initial treatment plan to include measurable short-term objectives, measurable clinical goals, and specifying clinical strategies. Monitors and documents progress using monitoring tools at proscribed intervals.
  • Conducts individual, family, and group therapy according to organizational, program, and professional standards and protocols, documenting such in a timely, legible, articulate fashion.
  • Facilitates 30-day review processes. Prepares for reviews by generating data involving individual, group, and family sessions, as well as therapeutic home visits, results of assessments, and/or other areas of concern.
  • Facilitates therapeutic home visits (THVs) to include scheduling, discussing rules and expectations while on the visit, developing crisis plans, and documenting effectiveness/outcome of THV
  • Consults daily with a multi-disciplinary treatment team to review cases and inform treatment. Participates in weekly DBT consultation meetings and opportunities to provide DBT training to others
