About The Position

Newport Mental Health (NMH) is a progressive high-energy organization that uses state of the art person-centered recovery approach to help individuals recover from mental illness and substance use disorders. NMH extends its trauma informed evidence-based services to children, adolescents, families, and adults. Our services vary from outreach, specialized program, mental health, school-based therapy, substance use therapy, community-based therapy, and outpatient clinic. We are seeking licensed clinicians to provide assessment and treatment in our Children's General Outpatient Team. In this position you will have a critical role both delivering direct services and as a clinical consultant to the multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, family therapy or a related clinical field.
  • Licensed at the independent practice level as defined by the Rhode Island Department of Health (LICSW) preferred.
  • LCSW and LMHC will also be considered.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical work experience.
  • Credentialed or eligible to be credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Professional through the Department of BHDDH within 2 months of employment.
  • Has knowledge base and can access all resources for hospitalization and crisis stabilization/hospital diversion.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a positive and genuine outlook about change with a belief that people can achieve positive outcomes.
  • This position may require a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide home-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to children and families.
  • Deliver comprehensive mental health services to children, parents, and families in various settings.
  • Maintain client records.
  • Coordinate team services to comply with recovery plans.
  • Demonstrate innovative problem-solving, crisis intervention, and management skills.
  • Collaborate within a team to offer interventions including therapy, crisis response, consultation, advocacy, and linkages.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure adherence to credentialing requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the CGOP Team Leader.
  • Conduct evaluations and assist in formulating recovery goals and strategies for families and teams.
  • Provide treatment in various settings such as homes, communities, and schools.
  • Offer therapeutic interventions including child therapy, parent guidance, couple therapy, family therapy, crisis response, school consultation, case management, advocacy, and service delivery, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Meet documentation deadlines.
  • Participate in supervision and case presentations.
  • Contribute to special projects such as consultation, prevention programs, and community education, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
